Introduction

Later App ("Later", "we", "us") is a mental wellness and self-care application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we collect, use, and safeguard your information. This policy explains our practices for both authenticated users and guest users exploring the app.

Guest Mode (Explore Without Account)

You can explore Later App without creating an account. When using guest mode:

• Local Storage Only: Your data is stored locally on your device and is not synced to our servers.
• Save Limits: You can save up to 3 entries per feature (mood tracking, journal, reflections, gratitude) to encourage account creation for full access.
• No Personal Info Required: We do not collect your email, name, or any personally identifiable information in guest mode.
• Analytics: We collect anonymous usage analytics (screen views, feature interactions) to understand how the app is used. These analytics are marked as "guest" user type and contain no personal identifiers.
• Device Loss: If you uninstall the app or lose your device, guest mode data cannot be recovered as it is not backed up.

Information We Collect

When you create an account and use Later App, we collect:

• Account Information: Email address, display name, and authentication credentials (via Firebase Authentication). If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google profile information.
• Wellness Data: Mood check-ins, journal entries (guided and free-form), daily reflections, gratitude entries, wellness activity records (breathing exercises, meditation sessions), and mood tags.
• Progress & Achievements: Streak counts, badges earned, custom achievements, trophy room data, and milestone tracking.
• Scheduled Content: Wishes, reminders, and messages you schedule for future delivery, including recipient information and delivery preferences.
• Games & Activities: Scores, completion times, and activity history for stress-relief games and wellness tools.
• Chat Messages: If you use the chat feature, messages exchanged with other users are stored (chat is only available to authenticated users).
• Usage Analytics: Screen views, feature usage patterns, user interactions, and session information marked with user type (guest or authenticated) to help us improve the app.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, app version, and crash logs for troubleshooting.

How We Use Your Information

• Service Delivery: To provide core features including mood tracking, journaling, wellness activities, badges, streaks, reminders, and scheduled messages.
• Personalization: To display your history, track your progress, suggest journal templates, and provide personalized insights.
• Analytics & Improvement: To understand feature usage patterns, identify popular features, track guest-to-signup conversion, and improve user experience.
• Communication: To deliver scheduled wishes/reminders, send notifications about app activity, and respond to support requests.
• Security: To prevent fraud, protect against abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.

Data Storage & Security

• Cloud Storage: Authenticated user data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore with encrypted connections and security rules to prevent unauthorized access.
• Local Storage: Guest mode data and certain preferences are stored locally on your device using secure device storage.
• Encryption: Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Data at rest is encrypted by Firebase's infrastructure.
• Access Controls: We implement strict Firebase security rules ensuring users can only access their own data.
• File Uploads: Any attachments you upload (images, documents) are stored in Firebase Storage with access restricted to your account.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Firebase (Google): Our backend infrastructure provider for authentication, database, storage, and analytics. Firebase processes data according to Google's privacy policies.
• Analytics Services: Firebase Analytics collects usage data to help us understand app performance and user behavior. Analytics data includes user type (guest/authenticated) but no personally identifiable information for guest users.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect safety and security.

Data Retention

• Active Accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.
• Account Deletion: When you delete your account, your personal data is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days. Some aggregated, anonymized analytics may be retained.
• Guest Data: Guest mode data remains on your device until you clear app data, uninstall the app, or create an account (at which point you can choose to migrate or discard local data).
• Inactive Accounts: We may delete accounts inactive for over 2 years after providing notice to the registered email.

Your Rights & Choices

• Access: You can view all your data within the app (history screens, profile, settings).
• Export: Request a copy of your data by contacting us at hello@laterhq.com.
• Delete: Delete individual entries within the app, or delete your entire account via Settings → Account → Delete Account.
• Opt-Out of Analytics: While we use analytics to improve the app, you can limit tracking by using guest mode or contacting us to disable analytics for your account.
• Notifications: Control notification preferences in device settings or app Settings → Notifications.

Children's Privacy

Later App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be notified via the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
